Enjoy the Frisian waters
Friesland is known for the Frisian lakes and waters. In Franeker and surroundings you can sail very nicely, you can sail through the canals of Franeker, via Hitzum, Achlum and Arum to Harlingen. You can also sail the clay route, this is a nice route from Franeker via Dongjum, Boer, Ried, Berlikum and Menaldum to Leeuwarden from there you can get to the center of Franeker. You can also sail along the Prinsentuin and in the center of Leeuwarden. From Leeuwarden you can sail on the Van Harinxma Canal past Deinum and Dronryp to Franeker.
