From vacation park Bloemketerp you can enjoy a nice bike ride. The center of Franeker is said to have originated around 800. In 1585 Franeker received a University as a thank you for her loyalty to William of Orange.
Trought the city park you drive into the province of Friesland. With the activity on one hand and the fields and meadows on the other, you can enjoy what Friesland has to offer.
The southwest of Friesland is characterized by its open character with meadows, dikes and picturesque villages. Originally the province has an agricultural character and was known for cattle breeding and the dairy industry.
When you have finished cycling and reached Harlingen it is time for a break. The harbor and the center offer plenty of opportunities for this. You continue the route through the coastal region along vast fields. You can enjoy cycling through the nature and architecture of the Frisian villages. But after a wonderful piece of cycling you will return to the city of Franeker.
